BT fundraiser doubles the money for pupils of North Cave School
A local BT employee has doubled the money she worked tirelessly to raise for the pupils of North Cave School in East Riding of Yorkshire.
Ruth Hickman, a senior sales specialist for BT, raised more than £1000 for The Friends of North Cave School, a support group dedicated to raising funds for school equipment and trips.
After the huge effort of organising various fundraising events including a community yard sale, a raffle, an evening dinner dance and even a children’s horse riding event all the hard work paid off. Ruth was picked as the winner of BT’s charity register prize draw which match funds money raised by employees for the causes they support by up to £1000.
Ruth said: “I am absolutely thrilled to have won this for the charity and feel very proud to share the news with the rest of the committee and school community.
“This additional £1000 will make a huge difference to our plans to develop a nature area within the school grounds to build the children’s awareness of nature, conservation and the environment.”
The charity register forms part of BT’s Better Future programme, and contributes towards the company’s goal of helping to generate more than £1 billion for good causes by 2020.
Since its launch in December last year more than £270,000 has been raised including proceeds from both cash donations and other various fundraising activities. Employees simply register the charity they are fundraising for to be in with a chance of securing the extra funds.
Tom Keeney, BT’s regional director for Yorkshire and the Humber, said: “It’s good to see parents, carers, staff and members of the community working together to support their school and its pupils.
“The money raised by Ruth was already a fantastic achievement but for BT to be able to boost it with an extra £1000 makes it doubly good news.”
