Households in the villages of Clachan and Whitehouse on the Kintyre peninsula and on the island of Eriskay in the Hebrides have been selected to take part in the first commercial pilot of a new technology to increase the speed of fibre broadband over very long phone lines. Around 60 premises in the small rural communities will join a pilot scheme by infrastructure provider Openreach.
