More than half of West Midlands Schools Boosted by BT's Tech Literacy Programme reveals CEO during visit to Birmingham

BT’s chief executive praised the “achievement” of a Tech Literacy campaign during a visit to one of the participating schools in North Birmingham and called for even more schools and community helpers to get involved to help them reach even more. More than half of the 1,800 primary schools in the West Midlands Combined Authority area have benefitted from the Barefoot Computing Project.

Over 150 students from across Northern Ireland took part in a day of design and problem-solving activities - organised by CCEA and BT. The Sci Tech workshop at Stranmillis University College was designed to develop their interest in STEM subjects (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) and encourage more NI schools to take part in the BT Young Scientist & Technology Exhibition.

University students will be given a rare insight into how BT helps the world’s businesses and communities to stay in touch during a visit to the company’s international communications hub in the heart of Herefordshire. The group – who are all studying at the University of South Wales – come from as far afield as Pakistan and Poland, and around the UK. It’s the visit of its kind by a university.
